The group makes it out of training camp alive, but Spica loses her bag on their way back to the academy. She finds the bag, but encounters a suspicious girl in the middle of the forest.

The members of Claude Coven face off against Hercules Coven on the second day of winter training camp. Claude Coven is in position to win thanks to Capella's tactics, but Ewe can't seem to motivate herself to participate. Despite the ongoing battle, the polar opposite pair clashes.

Capella, Claude Coven's leader, joins Spica, Chiron, Tarf, Ewe, and Hana–the five who failed the middle trial–in participating in Winter training camp. Thus begins the training camp from hell.

Spica saves Hana by a hair's breadth, but her back is against the wall in a fight with a double-headed, magic-wielding griffin. As the middle trial's time limit draws near, the pair are able to safely retrieve the prized gold and make their way back to the school, but whether or not they passed the test remains to be seen…

Spica and the coven embark on the journey to face their middle trial, and are greeted by a pride of giant griffins guarding their nest! Their task? Retrieve the gold from inside the griffin's nest by sundown. With the fierce griffins swarming overhead, at last the middle trial begins!

As the middle trial approaches, Spica spends her days training tirelessly with Claude. She seeks advice from her childhood friend Aria, who proposes they have a contest. So begins a competition neither can afford to lose.
